Inaugural 2026 Singapore International University Alumni Guandan Friendship Tournament Successfully Held

On September 20, 2026, the inaugural 2026 Singapore International University Alumni Guandan Friendship Tournament was successfully held in Singapore, bringing together 528 alumni from 142 universities around the world.

Through Guandan, participants from different universities, countries and regions gathered not only to compete, but also to strengthen friendship and promote international exchange through mind sports.

The tournament was organized by the Singapore Guandan Club, co-organized by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Alumni Association Singapore, with support from the ITEDA Global Guandan Mind Sports Federation.

Following five rounds of competition, the Nanjing University team claimed the team championship. In the individual category, Cheng Dongfang and Jin Jianzhong from Hong Kong won the championship.

Throughout the tournament, participants demonstrated strategic thinking, teamwork and sportsmanship while building new connections across universities, regions and cultures.

Chairman Fu Shanping: Advancing the Internationalization, Standardization and Digitalization of Guandan

Fu Shanping, Chairman of the ITEDA Global Guandan Mind Sports Federation, extended his congratulations on the successful staging of the tournament.

He also expressed his appreciation to the Singapore Guandan Club, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Alumni Association Singapore, members of the organizing committee, distinguished guests and all participating athletes.

In his address, Chairman Fu stated that ITEDA is committed to promoting Guandan as a mind sport and bringing it to a broader international stage.

Drawing on the development frameworks of international sports, the Federation is advancing Guandan across several key areas, including global participation and youth engagement, gender equality, sustainable and cost-effective event organization, cross-regional participation and multicultural inclusion, as well as competition safety, integrity and standardized tournament management.

Through these efforts, ITEDA continues to promote the internationalization, standardization and digitalization of Guandan.

Today, the Federation is developing an international network of Guandan clubs and players across multiple languages and regions, including English-, Japanese-, French-, German- and Mongolian-speaking communities.

Chairman Fu expressed his hope that, with the participation of clubs, university alumni organizations, athletes and partner institutions around the world, more people from different countries and cultural backgrounds will have the opportunity to discover and participate in Guandan.

Connecting University Alumni Through Mind Sports

The tournament provided a new international platform for university alumni and Guandan enthusiasts from around the world to meet, compete and communicate.

At the tables, players tested their judgment, strategy and teamwork in constantly changing game situations. Beyond the competition, alumni from different universities and regions built new connections and strengthened friendships through shared participation.

As an international hub connecting Asia with the wider world, Singapore provided an ideal setting for this inaugural event and for expanding cross-regional and cross-cultural exchanges through Guandan.

Looking ahead, the ITEDA Global Guandan Mind Sports Federation will continue to strengthen cooperation with Guandan clubs, university alumni organizations and partner institutions worldwide.

Through international tournaments, club development, standardized competition rules, multilingual promotion and digital tournament systems, ITEDA aims to build a stronger international platform for the sustainable development of Guandan.

From its grassroots origins in China to an increasingly international community, Guandan is evolving from a widely enjoyed card game into a mind sport supported by structured competition and international exchange.

ITEDA looks forward to working with partners around the world to connect people through Guandan, strengthen friendship across cultures, and promote the sport's continued international and standardized development.
